Northwest Corner Farm: Meet Stephen and Holley
Before starting Northwest Corner Farm, Stephen, farm founder and co-owner, had worked with and mentored scores of global startups, including in the food/agriculture vertical sector. Holley had also gained experience in sustainable food and agriculture as a marketing and social media consultant and coach to local food & ag startups. She served on the board of Slow Food NYC as well as the Culinary Historians of NY for many years. Both Stephen and Holley were avid gardeners (vegetables, herbs, flowers) and CSA members for over 20 years before establishing Northwest Corner Farm in Winchester.
Tucked away in the Northwest Corner, the farm had operated as a dairy farm until the 1950s. Stephen and Holley purchased the farmland in 2021 with the intention of returning the then-fallow prime farmland back to active agricultural production and conserving the forested areas. From the start, the land was farmed utilizing organic and regenerative practices and achieved organic certification in 2024. Stephen and Holley say that “Maintaining the highest standards of sustainability in our practices is a nonnegotiable component of the farm. Between the soil health and human health benefits of growing and consuming organic produce, as well as premium pricing opportunities in the market, pursuing organic certification was always a goal that aligned with our vision for the farm.”
The farm is managed by Marissa DiBella, who returned to Connecticut this year after several years living, farming, and rock climbing in the Hudson Valley, New York. As farm manager, Marissa aims to supply a wide variety of high-quality produce to the local community, serve as a steward of the land, and create a beautiful space at the farm.
Northwest Corner Farm produces a wide variety of vegetables including arugula, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers; herbs; mushrooms; and honey.
